Respighi: Roman Festivals (SSS 2014.39)

Respighi: Roman Festivals first page (Ricordi, 1929)

This week, I’m sticking with the Italy theme with Ottorino Respighi’s Roman Festivals. This afternoon I listened to the full suite in one sitting. Like I had felt when I first took on Fountains of Rome, I don’t feel like it is as great as Pines of Rome, a major favorite of mine. It’s not performed as often as those two, and it was the last of the trilogy, premiered in 1929, I believe.
